We are in week three of a four part focus on our responsibility as Christ followers to be engaged in missional living. Each year we believe it is important to re-orient ourselves in an intentional way around God’s mission. God’s mission is to redeem his whole creation, and the mission of the people of God is to be the agents of God’s blessings that in doing so we might draw close those that are far from God. Knowing the necessity for each of us to engage in sharing the life of the son through actual faith…in practice, we must look at where we as Christians must give concerted effort towards if we want to see God glorified through this fellowship. We’ve looked at Prayer: If we want the movement of God, we are going to need resilient roots. Ones created by hearts that are conformed to Christ through diligent prayer together. They are a pleasing aroma to Him as His bride, the church, unites together with a shared conviction for the advancement of the Gospel both here and across the globe. We’ve looked at Discipleship: the passion, commitment, and discipline to help others grow deeper in their relationship with Christ. This takes work, work beyond what Pastors and Programs can achieve. It takes people. People make disciples. And we are calling on you the people at State Road to embrace your identity as disciple makers.
Today we look at Gospel Motivation. If we want to effectively live on mission, we need to look at the model Jesus established here on earth. To be effective, we must know why we are on mission. God’s mission is too important to be serving with misguided motive. And so why do we do what we do? Is your goal to help people feel better or to help them be better?
