Here at State Road we have been called and set apart for the Great Commission purpose of making disciples of Jesus. That word, “disciple,” isn’t used much outside of Christian circles. It’s a Bible word meaning a fully committed follower of Jesus- a sincere, from-the-heart imitator of His example, and the way we go about making disciples here at State Road is by emphasizing those things which Jesus commanded in His teachings and modeled for us during the days of His earthly ministry. We have summarized those things in three statements— A disciple of Jesus is someone who loves God, loves others and loves in action. We didn’t invent these three statements. They are derived directly from those things Jesus taught and modeled for us during the days of His earthly ministry.
Occasionally, throughout 2024, and in between sermon series, we will be returning to these critical truths because they are so foundationally important to our efforts together as a church. I hope you can join us this Sunday as we study 1 Corinthians 13 together.
