God’s mission is to redeem his whole creation, and the mission of the people of God is to be agents of God’s blessings to the nations. Over the next few weeks I will be sharing a short element in each service about some of the marks that need to be woven into the fabric of our daily lives as we share in the life of God’s son Jesus here on earth and how some of our missional partners are living those marks out effectively in their context.

This week we look at prayer at length, rather than in short, for it’s foundational and necessary place in the life of a missional believer. In Colossians 4:2-3, Paul says, “Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving. At the same time, pray also for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ, on account of which I am in prison— that I may make it clear, which is how I ought to speak.” Paul likely had never met the Church in Colossae face to face as it wasn’t a church he had planted. Yet he demonstrates language of mutual care through prayer for the sake of the Mission of God. How are you praying for the advancement of God’s kingdom through not only you, but through the rest of His church in this town, this county, this state, this country, and the world?
