At the center of Christianity is the joyous reality of “good news.” The Christian message is, at its core, a happy and hopeful one, however it must be owned that before there can be good news there must first be bad news. The bad news is that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23) and that the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23). The horrific consequences of man’s rebellion against a righteous God can be neatly contained in one truly horrible and frightening word, “hell.” Without the bad news of hell there would be not be the good news of the Gospel.
But what does the Bible say about hell? What will it be like, and what becomes of the people who die never having put their trust in Jesus for salvation?
