This Sunday we’ll wrap up our study of the third chapter of John by exploring verses 22-36 together. This portion of scripture begins with John the Baptist’s disciples complaining to him that everyone is now going to Jesus to be baptized rather than them. They are losing market share on the spiritual pie chart. John the Baptist’s answer to them is powerfully insightful. We have already covered the incredible humility of John the Baptist in our previous studies and we see that again here. However, that is not really where these verses direct our attention. Both John the Baptist and John the Gospel writer are directing us to think deeply about how we respond to Jesus in our own hearts.
